Sawyers Rapids has been a famous fishing spot on the Umpqua River since the early 1900's. In fact, this area holds the State record for the 83 lb. Chinook Salmon caught in 1910. Shad enter the river and bite from May through late June and jam up at Sawyers Rapids in incredible numbers. You will also find Salmon, Small Mouth Bass, Steelhead, and Trout. This is a fisherman's paradise!
